18 Earnings per Share / Dividend

The diluted earnings per share were identical to the basic earnings in both the year under review and the previous year.

The dividend distribution for fiscal 2017 amounted to €223.6 million, or €4.50 per dividend-bearing share. No allocations to retained earnings were made at Wacker Chemie AG for fiscal 2017.

The Executive Board of Wacker Chemie AG has proposed a dividend for 2018 equivalent to around 50 percent of the Group’s income from continuing operations, or €2.50 per share. The dividend proposal relates solely to dividend-bearing shares, i. e. excluding treasury shares. The acceptance or rejection of this proposal is is the responsibility of the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting of Wacker Chemie AG. Subject to acceptance of the proposal, an amount of €124,194,957.50 will be distributed to the 49,677,983 no-par-value shares that are not held by the company.
