Polymers
In 2024, sales at Polymers decreased by 7.4 percent to €1.46 billion (2023: €1.58 billion). The main reason for this was a year-over-year decline in selling prices. The increase in volumes as against 2023 was insufficient to offset this trend in full. Sales in Asia and Europe declined, whereas sales in the Americas remained on a par with the previous year.
EBITDA amounted to €194.4 million (2023: €253.1 million), which was 23.2 percent lower than a year earlier, due primarily to the lower selling prices. The EBITDA margin was 13.3 percent (2023: 16.0 percent).
Polymers invested a total of €75.4 million in 2024 (2023: €74.1 million), which is slightly higher than in the previous year. Among other things, the funds were used for additional VAE dispersion production capacity at the US site in Calvert City and infrastructure at the Burghausen site. As of December 31, 2024, the number of employees at the division was 1,613 (Dec. 31, 2023: 1,622).
