Donations and Sponsorships
More than half of our donations in 2020 benefited health and social projects; for instance, we support WACKER’s relief fund (WACKER HILFSFONDS), “Die Arche” (The Ark; website available in German only), a German charity for the young, and the Munich-based “SchlaU” school, which offers educational programs to young refugees. The SV Wacker Burghausen sports club (website available in German only), which promotes popular sports, received 37 percent of our donations in 2020.
Our sponsorship activities focus on education and science. Our single largest commitment is our long-term sponsorship of the Institute for Silicon Chemistry at the Technical University of Munich. Funds of over €400,000 were paid out for this in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
In 2020, €9.6 million in current taxes went to governments throughout the world (2019: €9.4 million). In addition to WACKER’s corporate taxes, governments also receive the personal taxes and social-security contributions paid by our employees.
